HLX and "CPH"CopenhagenCopenhagen, the capital of Denmark, is a city full of fun. Surrounded by canals and the sea, the cobbled streets lead not only to beautiful churches, castles, museums, and palaces but also to a bustling street life amidst the Stroget (Eurpoe's best pedestrianized shopping area), a fun park, and, more importantly, access to the wonderful locals who really make this city so inviting. Tourist Information can be obtained at: www.woco.dk. Airport Transportation: *** If you fly via Ryanair, you arrive at Malmo airport in Sweden about 10 miles away from Copenhagen. Ryanair runs a bus service that picks up passengers outside the terminal 20 minutes after flights arrive and drops them off at Copenhagen's train station for a cost of 100kr. *** If you fly via easyjet, you arrive at Kastrup airport (Copenhagen Airport) on the isle of Amager (approx. 6 miles from the city centre) which is serviced by bus, train and taxi service. Bus No. 250 departs from outside the airport terminal for the 20-minute trip to the city centre, costing about 20kr. Trains depart every 20 mins., take about 12 minutes to reach the city centre and costs about 18kr. Taxis can be hailed outside the terminal for the 20-minute trip to the city and cost about 160kr (slightly higher after 4pm and on weekends). Explore Copenhagen: Visit the sights: Rosenborg Castle and Gardens, a 17th century castle housing the Danish crown jewels and other delights;
Amalienborg, the Royal Family's palace; the Little Mermaid statute, Radhuset (City Hall) with its World Clock and high
tower; the Royal Library with its striking black glass building leaning over the harbor; Christiansborg Palace, with 22
rooms open to the public, displays objects outlining Denmark's great history and royalty; the National Museum with
objects dating back to the Stone Age; Carlsberg brewery with its free half litre of beer; and Tivoli, the world's oldest
amusement park. Spectacular panoramic views can be had from either Rundetarn, a 17th century round tower where
Peter the Great of Russia supposedly drove a horse and carriage up the inner staircase; or from the Frederikskirken,
a lovely church. When the Royal Family is in residence, catch the changing of the Royal Guards at either Rosenborg
Castle 11:30 or at Amalienborg at Noon.
